Join the Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra for a concert of music inspired by Cornwall, paired with one of the best loved of all piano concertos.  Russian pianist Yulia Chaplina, fresh from competing in the 2011 Tchaikovsky competition, performs Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto, forever linked to the moving British film Brief Encounter.   The orchestra performs Arnold Bax’s majestic evocation of Arthurian legend, Tintagel, alongside Four Cornish Dances by another Great British composer, Air Malcolm Arnold.  Following the successful world premiere of conductor Stephen Scotchmer’s Fantasy for orchestra during the BSO’s 2009-10 season, Stephen’s choral pieceSt Michael’s Mount receives its first performance and celebrates one of Cornwall’s most famous landmarks.
